CHALLENGE #2 - OBJECT AND DANCE - PART 3

Our Associate Artistic Director Bridget Chew has made a challenge for you - in part 3 you will look at your shadow drawings in great detail and make new movements.

LISTEN TO THE TASKS IN THIS AUDIO CLIP:

OR FOLLOW THE WRITTEN TASKS HERE:

Task 1:  Create a view finder with some card. Bridget used some old cereal packaging. Cut a 10cm square. Fold in half and then cut out the centre leaving a 1cm border.

Task 2: Place your shadow drawings or printed images from Challenge 2 Part 2 onto a table.

Move your viewfinder over your drawings and find a detail you like.

Once you are happy with your chosen detail - then with a coloured pencil use the inside of the viewfinder to draw a square around your detail to highlight it.

Repeat Task 2 to find 3 details with your view finder!

Task 3: Once you have your 3 details highlighted - cut them out by cutting around the square border you have drawn. Then lay your 3 squares out in front of you.

Task 4: Find movements for each of the 3 shadow details

Task 5: Create a dance using these new movements that you have made, remember your movement can be small and get bigger, you can also use just a part of your body or all of your body.

This is Corali Artist Paul Davidson and his object and shadow movement choreography

Task 6: If you want you can combine your first movements from Challenge 2 Part 1 with your new movements from Part 3 to create a longer dance sequence.

Now you have made a dance from an object and its shadow. Challenge 2 is now complete - look out for Challenge 3 on its way soon!

If you like you could send us a picture of your shadow shapes to admin@corali.org.uk we would love to share it on our social media pages!
