Bethan's Update - Michael Clarke, Creative Minds and Filming

PDC Class

We have been doing Professional Development Class (PDC) on Zoom on every Wednesday afternoon. We watched a video from the Barbican with some dance prompts by Kate Coyne of the Michael Clarke Dance Company. The dance prompt we did was to look at album covers to make movements from.  Then we did a sequence altogether. We also had a guest, a dancer from Michael Clark Company called Harry Alexander. He told us about being in the company. We also watched a video of English National Ballet of hands choreography, which we copied and then we did our own hand choreography. Here is the link to our responses to the the dance prompts - Making Moves

Creative Minds

On Tuesday 30th of March I did Creative Minds meeting on Zoom and I was co-chairing with Gus Garside from Creative Minds. We were in a big Group we did a warm up before we started the meeting then we talked about different things like networking, disabled artists, finance, accessibility, funding, the future of Creative Minds, newsletters, and the wider arts world. Then we shared news from our own companies of what we have been doing. Jen Dyer from Corali supported me in the meeting.

Filming for Indonesia

On Sunday 28th of March I did filming for a project with Indonesia. For the filming, we had to use different back drops and get the right lightening and the right spacing, and sort out the camera stuff, changing batteries in between and standing in the right positions and doing close ups.

I made a film about dancing with architecture, and dancing with drawing. I showed how to make a dance improvisation with music doing different directions, levels, repetition, and speed.
